Beaches

Benicasim

Hotel Intur Orange is located at Av. Gimeno Tomás, 9, Benicasim, about 10 km from Castellón de la Plana. Just 250 meters from the hotel is located Heliopolis sandy beach, awarded with the Blue Flag of Europe’s seas. It has a pleasant promenade with cycle route linking Benicasim and Castellon, and many services relating to leisure and water sports: surfboard hiring, skates, umbrellas, hammocks… In the summer, it hosts various leisure activities such as cinema on the beach or tourist entertainment shows. Other beaches near the hotel are: Els Terrers, Torre Sant Vicent, L’Almadrava and Voramar. In Castellón you will find wide and warm beaches of fine sand, as well as less crowded and remote coves, perfect for quietness lovers. Castellón has 2 parks with pristine coastal areas: Parque Natural de la Sierra de Irta and Parque Natural del Prat de Cabanes-Torreblanca.

Diving enthusiasts should not miss the Columbretes Islands Marine Reserve, formed by a group of volcanic islands located a short distance from the coast.

Mountain

Castellon is the second most mountainous province in Spain. It houses the Peak called Penyagolosa, known as the “Roof” of the Valencian Community. In contrast to the typical landscape of the coast, the interior of Castellón will delight those who love nature and mountain sports.

Desierto de las Palmas

About 10 km from the hotel, we find the Desierto de las Palmas, with 3200 hectares protected. Declared a Natural Place in 1989, it allows visitors to perform a variety of leisure activities: hiking, biking or horseback riding, cultural visits, etc. This place is home to lush vegetation and hold the Interpretation Centre “La Bartola”, where you can get information about the fauna and flora, as well as a turtle rehabilitation center, the ruins of an ancient monastery belonging to the Order of the Discalced Carmelites by the early eighteenth century (abandoned in 1783 following the deterioration caused by heavy rains that occurred the year mentioned), the new monastery, built between 1784 and 1791 about 500 m from the original monastery and Carmelite Fathers Museum.
